A Heartfelt Recognition at SAMCH @ 30
On December 6, 2024, the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris was honored with a prestigious Plaque of Appreciation during the grand celebration of St. Anthony Mother and Child Hospital’s (SAMCH) 30th Anniversary. The event, held at the Summit Galleria in Cebu City, was a heartfelt tribute to the hospital’s three decades of exceptional service to the community, and an acknowledgment of the steadfast partnerships that have helped it flourish. SAMCH’s dedication to the health and well-being of countless families over the years has been truly transformative, and the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris is proud to be a part of that journey.
The Plaque of Appreciation was presented as part of the PRAISE Awards 2024, under the theme “SAMCH @ 30: Honoring Our Past and Shaping Our Future.” This theme reflected the hospital’s remarkable evolution and its tireless commitment to making healthcare more accessible to the people of Cebu. The ceremony was attended by various stakeholders, all united in their admiration for SAMCH’s unwavering mission and Vision.
Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris President Myra Urbiztondo, along with her husband, Rotarian Alden Urbiztondo, was present to accept the award on behalf of the club. We are proud to stand alongside St. Anthony Mother and Child Hospital, one of our key partners, as we continue our work together to make a lasting impact. This reflects the club’s long-standing commitment to the partnership with SAMCH and the shared mission of positively impacting the community.
The Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris has always been a strong supporter of SAMCH, providing vital resources, programs, and services to help advance the hospital’s mission of offering quality healthcare. Through their ongoing partnership, the two organizations have worked together to meet the healthcare needs of many families, particularly those who are underserved and vulnerable in Cebu. The club’s unwavering commitment to the hospital reflects their shared goal of making a real difference and creating a healthier, more sustainable future for the community.
Also in attendance at the event was Harrold Hussain, President of the Rotaract Club of Cebu 3rd District. The Rotaract Club, chartered by the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris in January, is another key partner of SAMCH, and has made significant strides in supporting the hospital’s mission through its own initiatives. The collaboration between the Rotary Club and Rotaract Club exemplifies the power of intergenerational service, with both organizations working hand-in-hand to strengthen SAMCH’s impact.
This recognition is not just a reflection of our individual efforts, but a reflection of the strength of our partnership and our collective commitment to creating meaningful change. This emphasizes the importance of teamwork and solidarity in achieving shared goals. The event also highlighted the value of fostering lasting partnerships, where each stakeholder plays a vital role in driving positive and enduring change within the community.
The celebration also offered an opportunity to reflect on SAMCH’s impressive legacy and the many milestones it has achieved over the past three decades. From humble beginnings to becoming a cornerstone of healthcare in Cebu, the hospital has consistently provided high-quality medical services, particularly in maternal and child health, that have made a profound difference in the lives of thousands.
The Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris is deeply honored to have been a part of that journey and is excited for the future ahead. The club’s collaboration with SAMCH is not just about offering assistance—it’s about creating lasting, meaningful change that will positively impact generations to come. The shared vision of both organizations is one of empowerment, support, and service to the community.
In closing, the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Juanito T. Tiu, MD, DPPS, MBA-HA, and the entire SAMCH team for this prestigious recognition.
We are excited for what lies ahead and look forward to many more years of partnership, service, and shared commitment to improving lives.
As the club continues to support SAMCH’s mission, it remains dedicated to creating a brighter, healthier future for all the families it serves.
