Combining advocacy with fun offers an exciting experience!
To engage Gen Z and attract them to our work, we must adapt to their vibrant ideas as our community evolves.
The Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo (D3850) successfully hosted Tinda x Tukar: A Holiday Market and Music Festival 2024 held at Victoria's Restobar, Kalibos, Aklan, on November 30, in partnership with Aklan Trekkers and international sister club Rotary Club of Lakemills, D6250, Wisconsin, USA.
For Akeanons, holiday gift-giving is a cherished tradition. This year, in response to Economic and Community Development, our strategic partner Aklan Trekkers enhanced the meaning of Christmas fever by creating a lively market filled with handmade items from local artisans, including accessories, clothing, handicrafts, zines, art pieces, and baked goods.
Rotary supports this initiative and so we helped foster a vibrant space for community connections, workshops, and a music festival featuring local talent.
Shopping from local vendors supports handicraft makers in Sitio Eakawon, Medina, Madalag, with proceeds funding activities to help preserve their crafts for future generations.
The success of any event relies heavily on the support it receives from individuals and organizations, such as the Rotary Club of Lakemills (D6250) in Wisconsin, USA, who generously granted us with $500 in funding to help bring the entire event to life.
At the event, the club also displayed our Philippine Rotary Magazine (PRM) and brochures for those interested in learning more and becoming part of our organization.
We will continue to support causes that benefit remote enterprises.
