Project Operation Taghoy 2024: A Collaborative Effort

Updated: Apr 19

During the period of January 27 to February 3, Operation Taghoy 2024 proved to be a great success due to the collaborative efforts of various Rotary clubs and Rotarians. Governor William Delloro and lady Anne of D3820 hosted the welcome dinner for Uplift Internationale on the first day.

The Rotary Club of Naga, led by President Jonathan Lao, played a pivotal role in the event, screened a total of 107 prospective patients, with 63 successful operations performed on cleft lips and palates, as well as other facial deformities requiring general anesthesia. They were also able to serve Brgy. Balatas with 200 children and adults for free eye glasses, WASH kits, a toothbrushing demonstration, and food, as part of the outreach department while surgery is on going.

The Naga City General Hospital provided the necessary facilities for this year’s Operation Taghoy.

Several other Rotary Clubs including the Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo (D3850), Rotary Club of Forbes Park (D3830), Rotary Club of Pasay Southeast and Rotary Club of Pasay (D3810), as well as other collaborators such as Jovenes de Bicololandia Lions 102 International, JCI Naga, Children’s Foundation/Ako Bicol, Metro Naga Development Council (MNDC), Eagles District, and JODANs, etc. made significant contributions to the initiative by providing meals throughout the entire week.

On the last day, the City of Naga, through MNDC and the mayor, organized a farewell party to honor and award certificates and tokens of appreciation to all the volunteers who participated in the successful operation.
