We marked another milestone in our Green Initiative: A Forest Rebirth project, celebrating our commitment to environmental sustainability and the rejuvenation of our precious natural resources. As part of the ongoing celebration of Environmental Month this April, we successfully launched our new project titled “Nurturing Nature: Sustainable Nursery Development” at the beautiful Luntiang Maynila Camp Site (Campo Dos) in Sitio Tubigan, DRT Bulacan.
This initiative, generously funded by our esteemed partner, the Regis Foundation, aims to establish a sustainable nursery that will play a crucial role in our tree-planting efforts. With a focus on propagating native tree species, fruit-bearing trees, and a variety of vegetables, our project serves as a valuable livelihood resource for the Dumagat Tribe community, while fostering environmental awareness among all participants and the broader community.
The event was not just a gathering of attentive minds; it was infused with enthusiasm and collective spirit. Our charter President, Elberto Regis, along with our Past Presidents, Arnil Senoron and Saturnino Salazar, were present to witness the planting of seeds - both of trees and of hope. We were also honored to welcome our new club member, Dino Jose, a blue blooded Rotarian and organizer of the Manila International Marathon, whose unwavering support for environmental sustainability is an inspiration to us all. He enthusiastically shared his vision of DRT Bulacan as a prime future venue for Trail Running, intertwining health and environmental consciousness.
As we forged ahead with our activities, we successfully established the Luntiang Maynila nursery, planting the seeds of tomorrow’s forest, and simultaneously surveyed the Trail Running route, merging recreation with a deepening respect for our environment.
Some highlights from the event:
- Participants engaged in various planting activities, learning the importance of native species.
- Informative sessions on sustainable practices for cultivating gardens were held, encouraging attendees to take the knowledge back to their communities.
- An inspiring discussion on the significance of nurturing our forests and the vital role of community involvement in environmental conservation.
The atmosphere was filled with excitement, laughter, and a shared commitment to making a difference. Witnessing the budding enthusiasm for our environmental initiatives is proof that together, we can truly affect change.
As we move forward, let’s carry the spirit of this project into our everyday lives and continue to nurture not just nature, but also each other. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making this event a resounding success — your energy and passion are invaluable!
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our journey with the Green Initiative: A Forest Rebirth. Together for a greener tomorrow
