A Life of Service: RCSFLU Pays Tribute to PP Rudy Yabes

The Rotary Club of San Fernando La Union (RCSFLU) honored the late Past President Rodolfo “Rudy” V. Yabes with a Board Resolution recognizing his outstanding service to the club for more than 50 years of being Rotarian, following the announcement of his passing.

A memorial gathering was held on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the SVD PHN Provincialate House in San Fernando City, La Union, where Rotarians, family, and friends came together to pay their final respects.

As a tribute to his years of dedication, the club issued a Board Resolution Honoring and Commending Past President Rodolfo “Rudy” V. Yabes for his Exemplary Works and Services, Efforts, and Countless Contributions as a former leader and lifelong member of RCSFLU.

PP Rudy Yabes, who served as Club President during his term Rotary Year 1980–1981,  led under the Rotary International theme, “Take Time to Serve”, was remembered for his strong leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to Rotary’s ideals. He played a key role in advancing the club’s service initiatives and was a mentor to many members.

One of his signature programs was Youth Week, a forward-thinking project that focused on the development and recognition of the youth. Through this initiative, PP Rudy underscored the importance of investing in the next generation—ensuring they had platforms for leadership and civic engagement early on.

Known to many as “Mr. COMELEC,” PP Rudy brought his legal expertise and firm sense of fairness to the club’s election processes, which he continued to oversee long after his presidency. His meticulousness and adherence to the rules ensured integrity and order, setting a high standard that has become a hallmark of the club's internal governance.

In honoring the life of Past President Rudy Yabes, the Rotary Club of San Fernando La Union celebrates a Rotarian whose legacy of humility and service will continue to inspire generations to come.
